One of the UK’s largest housing associations has been ranked among the top 10 places to work in the UK, for the second year running.
North East based Home Group, a major provider of housing, health and care, has been placed tenth in the UK’s Best Workplaces, as part of the 2020 Great Places to Work survey.
Ranked above a long list of blue-chip multinationals, Home Group’s position also makes them the top performing housing association in the UK, and highest performing organisation in the North-East.
Mark Henderson, Chief Executive of Home Group, said: “We’re delighted with such an amazing result, especially with it being the second year in a row. We all know at Home Group how great it is working here, but even so it’s fantastic to see our name up in lights today – as a top ten best workplace in the UK.
“I have always been proud to work with my colleagues at Home Group – they are passionate, committed and epitomise our values. But at no time has that been more evident than over the last six weeks or so where, like everyone, we have been operating in extremely challenging times.
“I’ve been blown away by the extraordinary lengths’ colleagues have gone to in-order-to support each other, and particularly our customers, despite the incredibly challenging time they find themselves in as individuals. They have put aside their concerns to ensure our customers and their communities have the support they need. I can’t thank them enough.
“We’ll enjoy today, but we won’t become complacent. There is still work to be done and we want to keep finding ways to enhance Home Group’s offer, to both new and existing colleagues, by learning from the results and continuing to improve our wonderful organisation.”
The awards recognise the best large, medium and small workplaces in the UK, with Home Group named in the Super Large category for business with over 1,000 employees.
As well as finishing top in their sector, Home Group, based in Gosforth, were also named the highest placed charitable organisation in this year’s awards.
This latest success follows on from being named in Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers Index for 2020, for the second year running – recognising the significant amount of support that is in place for Home Group’s LGBT+ colleagues.
The benefits of working at Home Group include enhanced holidays and maternity leave, time off for volunteering, flexible working hours and awards to celebrate employee successes and achievements.
