Our ‘It’s My Business’ feature is a new platform we’ve introduced to give business owners, directors and mangers the chance to talk about their business and explain more about their services and expertise.

This time around we chat to James Parkin, Production Director at Hiatco, who along with his brother Stuart, jointly runs the Stanley-based manufacturing company.

Tell us more about Hiatco.

Hiatco is a family run business specialising in high quality aluminium manufacture and fabrication. We were founded in 1992.

Your services are quite specialist aren’t they – tell us more about the products you manufacture.

Hiatco manufactures a wide range of products supplied into companies within various industries such as the power industry, subsea and access.  We make everything from 7mtr – 21mtr working platforms, powered spacer chairs, aluminium ROV chassis and temporary access cradles to bespoke one off fabrications.

What about yourself and your brother Stuart – your journey within Hiatco has been an exciting one hasn’t it?

Our journey within Hiatco has been eventful, both starting as apprentice welders/fabricators back in 2001, gaining experience to become multi coded welders onto roles as workshop supervisors. In October 2016 after the retirement of general manager we were given the responsibility of the day to day running of the business with roles we have today as operations and production director

Do you enjoy the challenges that come with being at the helm of the company?

We both enjoy the challenges of the daily running of the business, obviously there are highs and lows but all in all the challenges are beneficial in giving us experience to help the business progress

What does the future hold for Hiatco?

Looking into the future Hiatco hopes to progress by retaining our existing customers due to the high standard of service they receive and also find new customers to benefit from the quality service and help this family business grow.
